On Dec.8, 2019, World Blockchain Conference — Wuzhan, the second Wuzhen World Blockchain conference with the theme: “Limitless Applications” kicked off, gathering more than one hundred scholars, innovators, experts, gurus, and opinion leaders from the fields of blockchain, digital assets, AI and 5G.

PlatON co-founder and CEO Mr. Lilin Sun attended this big annual event and gave his keynote speech: The Compute of Consent: Thoughts about Governance of Blockchain in Privacy-preserving Computation Era, presenting the exclusive solution of blockchain application based on privacy-preserving computation.

Why The Compute of Consent?

The Compute of Consent dates back to The Calculus of Consent, a book published by economist James M. Buchanan and Gordon Tullock in 1962. It is considered to be one of the classic works from the discipline of public choice in economics and political science. The work presents the basic principles of public choice theory. “It will be more suitable to be The Compute of Consent in today’s digital era.” Mr.Sun said. PlatON keeps moving on the research and development of privacy-preserving computation on top of the compute of consent.

Debates between Blockchain and Privacy-preserving Computation

* Strengths of Being the Infrastructure

Blockchain is born to be financial infrastructure to facilitate data calculation.

* Digital Currency VS Electronic Currency

In digital era, the time-scale has changed from physical time to be digital time; the account system has changed from tokenized to be protocol monetized; and the trading mechanism brought in the iteration of payment and settlement.

* Partial Data and the Full Data

Privacy AI and privacy-preserving computation help eliminate the blurring border of partial data and the full data. PlatON gathers partial data into the full data with the data security and the rights of data owners guaranteed.

* From Data Exchange to Computation Interoperability

The development of Internet facilitates the iteration from data exchange to computation interoperability.

* Governance is the Compute of Consensus

Governance is a game theory that balances the delegation and authorization of all kinds of natural rights that belong to the data owners and asset owners on chain.

* Distribution and Mass Commercial Use Cases of Blockchain

Seek mass commercial use cases of blockchain and privacy-preserving computation on top of distribution. As the distributed network becomes more and more complicated, the numbers of nodes and connections, and data traffic keep increasing. Traditional centralized network infrastructures can not meet the increasing requirements of data economy. Reconstruction of infrastructures based on distributed network is the only solution.

Conflicts in Digital Era and Privacy-preserving Computation

* Conflict between Personal Privacy and Central Regulation

Why is KYC (Know Your Customer) means a lot and is necessary in each procedure in digital era? The reason is KYC is not for money, but credit accounts instead. KYC is to verify ID, and should be improved fundamentally in today’s digital era.

* Conflict between Trading Privacy and Registration Confirmation

It is obvious that today’s Internet companies dominate all accounts, info, trading behaviors and even trading results. That’s why we can see big data scandals of Facbook, and Google. The rights and interests of data owners are obliterated completely to the great extent. The conflict should be eliminated.

* Conflict between Data Privacy and Data Sharing

Data can not be leaked. Data privacy is a consumer right and needs to be well protected. That is what a good digital era network looks like.

Blockchain Working as a Super Clearing

The best use case of Blockchain’s working as an infrastructure is super clearing. It will be applied in including but not limited to Transportation, Health Care, Finance, Bank, Security, Bond, etc. All fields that can be tokenized can provide standard data exchange and collaborative network based on data. The network that can bring in true mass commercial use cases and low-cost calculation is what a truly good infrastructure is.

PlatON will keep moving on the development of blockchain and privacy-preserving computation, and the construction focus on the complexity of computation and communication. PlatON is dedicated to building The Republic of Plato in digital era with The Compute of Consent.
